Why do bad things happen to good people? Or conversely why do good things happen to bad people?

It's either luck or sometimes good things happen to people because they work for those things to happen (like working hard to start a business and putting in a lot of effort and eventually becoming rich). Bad people can do things that turn out really good for them just the same as good people can. And sometimes bad things happen to people because they make stupid choices. Good people can make bad choices that result in bad things happening to them just the same bad people can.
